Holbecks House B&B

Holbecks House is a historic Grade 11 Listed 18th century country house set in its own gardens and grounds and surrounded by parkland. The house has an air of calm and tranquillity and enjoys lovely views of the surrounding gardens. We have 3 double bedrooms including 1 suite which can sleep up to 4 people.

Holbecks is a large C18 timber-framed and plastered building with a slate roof, hipped, behind a parapet with cornice. The main front faces north-east and there are additional wings to the south-west. Probably of earlier origin, Two storeys and attics. The front has 2 two-storeyed splayed bays of 3 window range and one window and doorway between. The windows are mainly double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The ground storey front windows are French casements. A central glazed doorway has an Ionic doorcase with plain columns and a modillion pediment. Three dormers behind the parapet on the north-east and three on the south-east.

Enter the grounds up the drive through parkland studded with ancient trees and step into the flag stoned hall of our 18th–century house. Find gracious rooms, soft colours, Persian rugs, antiques, hunting prints and books to browse. Settle into big peaceful bedrooms with good beds, chocolates and long rural views. On the outskirts of the market town of Hadleigh, the house sits at the top of a hill with acres of gardens and g rounds. Explore Constable Country, visit the Munnings Art Museum in Dedham, Gainsborough House in Sudbury, the antique centre at Long Melford, the Shotley Peninsula, the Heritage coast and the cathedral city of Bury St Edmunds.

Holbecks House has 3 bedrooms. We also have two self catering Holiday lets, The Gardener's Cottage and the Garden Flat. Please contact us directly to request availability for the cottage and flat.

Perry runs the business whilst his wife Charlotte commutes up to London during the week. They are ably assisted by a great team of helpers in the house and gardens. We love living in Suffolk and enjoying the many activities and sightseeing destinations that Suffolk has to offer whether it is visiting Constable country around the Dedham Vale, shopping for antiques in Long Melford or visiting one of the National Trust properties in the area. The Heritage coast is a short drive away, as are Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge. Suffolk is a delightfully unspoilt county and we are also fortunate enough to live on the outskirts of the lovely market town of Hadleigh with its numerous mediaeval listed buildings and independent shops.
